Thanksgiving has come and gone, and did you know the average person gains weight between Christmas and New Year's Day?
And as if weight gain wasn't the worst thing, we also run the risk of going into a Holi-daze or becoming Holi-crazy!
I don't want you to worry about holiday weight gain or stress about the upcoming holiday season.
Here are seven steps to help you enjoy the h maintaining and not gaining:
1. Plan Your Indulgences.
We all have a favorite holiday food, but that doesn't mean we have to eat it in excess whenever we see it during the holiday season. Make a plan for yourself and stick to it.
Decide where you will indulge and where you will pass.
If you choose 80% healthy, then there is plenty of room to indulge the remaining 20%.
This approach will keep you feeling good in your skin, healthier and happier all year!
2. Sneak in Exercise.
Time gets really tight with all trimmings of the season, cooking, sending off packages and everything that comes up during the holiday season. And you may be tempted to skip your workout. Don't do it! As little as 15 - 30 minutes a day can keep your fitness level intact, keep yourself smiling, lower your stress and help keep you sane. Not to mention, you move because you love your body, not because you are punishing yourself, right?
3. Practice Gratitude.
During the holidays, it's really easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, and this year we have little extra to deal with. And if you tend to be over-scheduled, it's easy to lose track of what's really important during this time of year.
Create a gratitude practice so you can enjoy the holidays with a healthier and happier mindset. If you're willing, post your daily gratitude on Facebook, write someone a letter to express your gratitude or give them a call. Your holiday cheer will make an impact on those around you as well.
4. Set Yourself Up for the Win. When you decide what you want, unleash the power of goal setting. Write down how you
want to show up in 2021, use big descriptive words like Confident, Empowered, visualize yourself.
Say your intentions out loud everyday as you write then out, take action, repeat your intentions to yourself throughout the day if needed, winning is practically guaranteed.
5. Stay in the Moment.
Commitments, arguing relatives, fruit cake, oh my!
Follow a daily mindfulness practice so you can slow down and enjoy the holidays. Take time to breath and be present in the moment whether it's with your family, sitting down for a meal or being present and mindful with your own thoughts.
6. Stand tall with confidence.
Studies show that adjusting your body posture convinces your brain that you feel confident. Stand up straight and take your space because doing so will give you a boost that will positively affect how you feel. Your body can change your mind. And, when you feel more confident and happier you are more likely to make healthier choices.
7. Practice Kindness.
Be generous with yourself and others. Offer up your help, your knowledge, and your time and you will reap a heaping helping of self-confidence because all that giving makes you feel good about yourself. And when you feel good about yourself you feel more confident and when you feel confident you kick ass.
With these seven simple steps, you're practically guaranteed to have a healthy and happy holiday season.
Seasons Greetings to you and yours!
